Gaye Magazine is offering a 2023 Summer/Fall internship for currently enrolled college students to receive university credits seeking to become a Social Media Manager Intern.

Important Things to Know:

  1. Please note that this internship is unpaid. There will be commission-based pay for advertisement referrals and opportunities for paid writing assignments and event coverage. 

  2. This position is remote and candidates must live within the Atlanta area, with reliable transportation to cover events.

  3. This position is part-time. College students will be given a schedule that meets their requirements to receive college credit. Social Media Manager Interns will have the ability to create their own schedule but must be flexible for impromptu coverage. (Monday - Saturday) 

  4. Internship requires face to face team meetings (Atlanta Staff) and mandatory weekly team conference calls with the Editor-in-Chief and staff.

  5. Selected interns must agree to a 3-month or 6-month term to successfully complete the Internship Program. The selected term must be completed and approved by the team's managing staff before an intern can use Gaye Magazine as a reference or receive college credits.

Internship Opportunity:

We are looking for a passionate and dedicated individual who will enjoy being committed to scheduling and posting engaging social media content regarding LGBTQ+ news, trending topics, and celebrities on a consistent basis. The social media manager intern will be on the front lines of finding stories and discovering trending topics that matter to our audience. By joining the Gaye team you will not only be embarking on a journey towards professional growth, you will also be contributing to help shape a more unified and informed society.

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Extremely well versed in Black LGBTQ+ culture and naturally knowledgeable of LGBTQ trends and celebrities/socialites.

  • Adept to mobile technology/technology savvy, extremely active on social media, and always ready to report on the latest news and gossip.

  • Extraordinary ability to demonstrate creativity to bring written articles to life through social media content.

  • Strong interest in blogging, writing and publishing content for the LGBT community and pop culture.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Reliable, trustworthy, and ethical

  • Ability to work independently with little to no supervision.

  • Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Create graphics for published articles and company announcements.

  • Organize and schedule posts/articles weekly to be published across all Gaye Magazine's social platforms.

  • Format and optimize written articles from staff writers to be published on all social media platforms.

  • Engage with followers and respond to comments and direct messages.

  • Create new initiatives for social media content in order to improve brand development and marketability.

  • Provide weekly reporting and social analytics of content published on social media platforms

  • Manage and monitor efforts in building online reviews and reputation.

  • Develop and expand community and/or influencer outreach efforts.
