In a video that has now gone viral, a trans woman named Muhlaysia Booker, is seen being mobbed by a group of men in an apartment complex she lives in called Royal Crest Apartments in Dallas, Texas. A Facebook post shows the beginning portions before the fight where Muhlaysia is seen walking around the complex clearly agitated.
A video posted on News DFW shows that the conflict most likely began when Muhlaysia and another driver got into a car accident. One of the boys in the background can be clearly heard offering $200 to beat Muhlaysia.
The scenario escalated to her being attacked. Racial slurs were thrown along with punches and the actions are leading thousands to call the event a hate crime.
#JusticeforMuhlaysia has become the new symbol of supporters demanding action. The Governor of Dallas has since spoke, condemning the vicious attack saying in a tweet,
Muhlaysia's family says that she was admitted to the hospital due to facial fractures and an arm injury according to Advocate. At the moment only one has been arrested, 29-year old Edward Thomas, though more arrests are expected.
Though the video clearly shows the mobbing of Muhlaysia, some are saying that she was the one who instigated the fight. Watch the full video and tell us your opinion.
