Charlize is a very private very, loving momma. She adopted two African American children, a three year old girl named August and a seven year old boy named Jackson – or actually, girl now. When she adopted Jackson as a baby she had announced him as a boy, but he cleared up her mistake very early on.
Charlize explained to the Daily Mail, "Yes, I thought she was a boy, too, until she looked at me when she was three years old and said: 'I am not a boy!'
'So there you go! I have two beautiful daughters who, just like any parent, I want to protect and I want to see thrive."
"They were born who they are and exactly where in the world both of them get to find themselves as they grow up, and who they want to be, is not for me to decide. My job as a parent is to celebrate them and to love them and to make sure that they have everything they need in order to be what they want to be. And I will do everything in my power for my kids to have that right and to be protected within that."
And whoop there it is. Charlize has received extreme backlash with pictures coming out with Jackson wearing girl clothing. I personally remember a time a picture came out of him wearing an Elsa outfit with a blonde wig and people thought the world would end. Since the interview however, people from all over are congratulating and thanking Charlize for her decision. But Charlize is doing what every parent might want to try at least once – listening.
