D.C.'s Pride month parade, #CapitalPride, erupted in chaos with the reports of gunshots at Dupont Circle. Police responded to reports that gunshots could be heard. As a result, hundreds of people fled for their lives. Live videos show people rushing into buildings or side-streets to take cover.
Afterwards, D.C. police put out a statement that the shooting was a false report and there is no active shooter on site.. Nothing yet is known on how the rumor spread.
Not long after, new news was posted that a gun was indeed found in a backpack at Dupont Circle. D.C fire and EMS were called to Dupont where a multitude of injuries had occured from the panic.
The Police confirmed to News4 that the gun that was found was never "brandished" or had threats made with it. It has been taken in to be processed and a person is being questioned on the incident. The Capital Pride ended early after the incident.
