Here Are All the LGBT Celebs Nominated in the 51st Annual NAACP Image Awards

The nominees for the 51st Annual NAACP Awards have been announced to the public. Here are some of our faves who have been nominated this year.


1. Billy Porter

First is Billy Porter. He earned two nominations in different categories for, "Entertainer Of The Year" and "Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series" for his role as "Pray Tell" on POSE. Porter reacted to the nominations on Twitter feeling honored about his nominations saying, "Honored to be recognized along with so many of my friends and colleagues from Broadway".


2. Lil Nas X

Second is Lil Nas X. The "Old Town Road" star scored two nominations for "Outstanding New Artist" and "Outstanding Male Artist". He has has won awards back to back in 2019 from VMAs to CMAs to BET awards for, "Old Town Road". If he takes home a NAACP, then he could add this to his long list of awards off the hit song.



3. Patrik Ian Polk

Third is Patrik Ian Polk. The infamous Noah's Arc creator/director is nominated for a couple awards, one being "Outstanding Writing in a Motion Picture" for the "Being Mary Jane" TV movie on BET and "Outstanding Television Movie, Limited-Series or Dramatic Special" for "Being Mary Jane" as well. He shared his excitement for his nominations via Instagram stating, "What a nice surprise--nominated for a couple @naacpimageawards".


4. Titus Burgess

Actor Tituss Burgess scoring two nominations in two different categories for, "Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture" for his role in "Dolemitte Is My Name" and "Outstanding Supporting Actor In a Comedy Series" for his role in, "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt".


Burgess took to Instagram to share his reaction on his nominations in a video where he tearfully stated that the news of the two nominations lifted him and that he "needed it".



5. Lizzo

The "Truth Hurts" star got plenty of nominations this year. Lizzo has been nominated for, "Entertainer of the Year" and "Outstanding Female Artist". Her album "Cuz I Love You" has been nominated for "Outstanding Album". Her song, "Jerome" from her album has been nominated for "Outstanding Song - Traditional" and her hit song, "Juice" has been nominated for "Outstanding Song - Contemporary" and "Outstanding Music Video/ Visual Album".


6. Lena Waithe



Waithe's works has gotten plenty of nominations as well. "Queen and Slim" received seven nominations in total. Also, "The Chi" was nominated for "Outstanding Drama Series". She shared her reaction via an Instagram post to state that she is grateful for the nominations.



7. Wanda Sykes

The legendary comedian and actress is nominated for, "Outstanding Variety Show (Series or Special)" for her Netflix special, "Wanda Sykes: Not Normal".


8. Janelle Monae


The singer and actress has been nominated for, "Outstanding Supporting Actress in A Motion Picture" for her role in "Harriet" as Marie Buchanon. This is her first nomination as a supporting actress and she shared her excitement about the news via Instagram.



To see if our faves will be taking the awards home, the 51st Annual NAACP Image Awards will air on Saturday, February 22nd at 8pm/7c on BET.
