Police superintendent Eddie Johnson has been fired for the same thing Jussie Smollett allegedly was fired for - lying.
Most notably known for his beef with Jussie after that infamous MAGA beatdown incident and the cost of the investigation, poor old Eddie is in his own hot water for drinking and driving.
But wait - there's more. Apparently the ongoing investigation came in October when Eddie was found slumped in his car by other police officers. Some note that the rules were bent for the boss since he was not given a sobriety test and body-cameras are not being released.
According to a scathing press conference with the Mayor Lori Lightfoot, recent details showed that it all wasn't as it seemed.
“Had I known these facts at the time, I would have relieved him of his duties as superintendent then and there. I certainly would not have participated in a celebratory press conference to announce his retirement. Mr. Johnson failed the hard working members of the Chicago Police Department. He intentionally misled the people of Chicago and he intentionally misled me. None of that is acceptable.”
But how bad was it? More details show that apparently Johnson was drinking with a security detail of his, a woman, at a restaurant before he was found a few blocks from his house. The inspector report has not been released, camera's have not been released and the Mayor was mum on the more serious questions, only saying: "The facts I know now are fundamentally different than the facts I knew then.... I’m not gonna verify something one way or the other. What I’m saying to you is that what he portrayed to me — what he portrayed to the public — was fundamentally different than what the facts show.”
