Orange is The New Black actress and LGBTQ activist, Laverne Cox and boyfriend Kyle Draper, CEO of Mateo Sound, have decided to go there separate ways. This comes as a shock to many because their relationship was described to be the epitome of love in the trans community.
Cox took to Instagram and said, "We know our relationship meant so much to so many people, especially trans folks, giving them hope that this kind of love is possible for them as well,” she continued. “That hope, the hope for love has not waned for me in the face of this breakup but rather is fortified. Knowing that we are both capable of giving and receiving love with this level of kindness, respect, trust, affection, depth, and intensity has been so healing and life affirming for us both."
Kyle also took to Instagram and provided a statement saying, "“After much soul searching and tears from both of us, we have decided it's time for us to go our separate ways. We decided we should make a public statement since our relationship was public in ways neither of us anticipated. This is that public statement.”
The two year relationship has shared its ups and downs, has put pressure on her career with her rise to being nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award to the final season of the Netflix show approaching.
We all know letting someone go is hard, however Laverne and Kyle are still cordial and are still empowering transgenders in the LGBT community and have simply just grown apart.
