MOBIFest is providing a FREE festival experience to celebrate Black queer excellence in NYC!

Originally launched in 2017, MOBI --Mobilizing Our Brothers Initiative -- aimed to create a welcoming space for Black male LGBT creatives, ultimately extending to all queer communities of color. Following MOBI's attained success, in time, MOBIFest was born. The multi-day event gives the stage to queer talent of color, bringing them exposure, knowledge, and professional development.

This year marks MOBI's sixth annual festival taking place from Monday, June 5th through Sunday, June 11th. Artists, DJs, entertainers, and ballroom legends will encompass this year's lineup.

“Wow, year six of this amazing journey," Julian J. Walker, MOBI's Deputy Director said excitedly.

"Each year, we strive to expand our goal of creating intentional, loving, and safe spaces for our LGBTQ+ community".

The highlight of MOBIfest 2023 is MOBIFest's Live event, taking place on Saturday, June 10th. Hosted by Kenneth Kyrell and Maria Van Cartier, the festival will return to the Music Hall of Williamsburg as its venue. MOBI held an open submission for this year's performers and dancers, citing auditions from the "most talented, fearless, and driven" musicians they've seen.

MOBI announced its lineup of Black queer artists which includes Siaira Shawn, The Dragon Sisters, Damez, FunkyReggaeHouseParty, Rodney Chrome, Elijah Boothe, Sedric Perry, Neverending Nina, Mylah Muse, Cakey Koutour, Chrystian Lehr, DJ DARJAR, TENZ, and Diva’s Live Drag performance set featuring drag stars: Alisha Day, Cici Nicole, Pryncess Carter, Cookie D’Lite, Tina Twirler, Harmonica Sunbeam, Dev Doee, Milan Garçon, and Jus Jahlisa.

In addition to the electrifying performances, MOBIFest will also feature the Sunday, June 11th, MOBIFest Art Exhibition and Day Party: Reflection, showcasing the incredible work of talented Black queer artists from the NYC metro area.

This event, held at Agora Gallery, invites guests to immerse themselves in a vibrant display of queer art while enjoying beats by a special guest DJ. The celebration continues with signature cocktails provided by Diageo featuring Johnnie Walker and DeLeón Tequila, offering attendees a chance to indulge in exquisite libations and mingle in an inclusive and supportive environment.

MOBIFest will give attendees the opportunity to partake in a variety of events and workshops specifically catered to mental, physical, and emotional well-being. From yoga to pole dancing the all-inclusive classes have something everyone can enjoy.

"In the midst of so much hate around us, we must stay encouraged and never doubt our greatness nor individuality, which is our superpower", Walker says.
