Black LGBTQ+ Stars Celebrate at 2nd Annual GLAAD Honors Party | Red Carpet Looks + Photo Recap

GLAAD, the world's largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) media advocacy organization, hosted their star-studded second pre-annual GLAAD Media Awards celebration, billed the #GLAADHonors, at Grandmaster Recorders in Hollywood, California last night.

GLAAD's Communities of Color and Media Director Dashawn Usher, Associate Director Julian Walker, and Junior Associate Kayla Thompson hosted the intimate gathering to celebrate and recognize the Black LGBTQ+ nominees of the 2023 GLAAD Media Awards for their efforts and contributions to the culture and community.


The collection of Black, LGBTQ+ talent in attendance who make up some of the best in media and entertainment included TV personality TS Madison, actors Nicco Annan, Jerrie Johnson, actor/director Jussie Smollet, New York Times best-selling author George M. Johnson, history-making rapper Kidd Kenn, actors Brandon Black, Bernard David Jones, Philemon Chambers, James Bland, Elijah Boothe, Devere Rogers, Zachary Campbell, Alexandra Grey, media personality Terrell Grice, artist/creative director Victor Jackson, models and actors Isis King, Laith Ashley, music artists Durand Bernarr, and Jeronelle and amongst others.

Distinguished guests of the evening included Greg Mathis Jr., Mike Guayo, Rashaad Newsome, Jayce Baron, Pierre Phipps, Ashley Marie Preston, Brandon Anthony, Shar Jossell, Peter Dodd, Directors Elegance Bratton, Patrik Ian Polk, Anthony M. Hemingway, Nathan Hale Williams, Alexander King, Micheal Donte and Olivia Peace.


Upon arrival, guests enjoyed cocktails, networking, light bites, and music by DJ DarJar.


DaShawn Usher surprised attendees with the announcement of GLAAD’s first annual Black Queer Creative Summit set to launch in Los Angeles on Thursday, September 14th, 2023 and conclude on Sunday, September 17th, 2023.


The three-day summit will host Black LGBTQ+ creators for workshops, networking, and opportunities with industry insiders for personal and professional development.
