Lil Nas X Defended By Father After Backlash of His Mother Being Found Begging for Food

Singer, rapper and songwriter Montero Lamar Hill who's better known by his stage name, Lil Nas X has found himself in the limelight again and this time, it has nothing to do with his music. Recently a video of Nas’ mother Tamika surfaced all over social media where she appears to be begging for food on the street.

While we don’t have the backstory, it appears it was a fan who captured the video and shared it to social media captioning, “This is @lilnasx mom holding a feed me sign on a corner in Atlanta ga.”

Lil Nas has found himself at the center of attention ever since releasing the music video to his new single, MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name). The Georgia native received a bunch of mixed feedback; both good and bad once dropping the controversial "masterpiece", as many have called it. Though fans wasted no time in pointing out how provocative the video was, depicting scenes of the singer sliding down a stripper pole into Hell and giving a lap dance to Satan. Nonetheless, the song is now debuted at the top on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and remains at #1 on the global Spotify chart with 7.996 million streams as of today.

Though his success has been endless and nothing short of inspiring, like anyone else, we all have a backstory. Lil Nas has been vocal about the strained relationship with his mother as well as her struggle with addiction in the past.

In fact, very recently Lil Nas shared a four part series on TikTok that described his rise to success and in it he mentions the time where he finally made enough money to put his mother into rehab. He also stated during an interview back in January of 2020 that, “I never really talk about my mom. She's an addict so we don't have the closest relationship. Even trying to get her better - things didn't quite work out. But there's still love..."

Many fans swarmed to the artist's defense including actor and author, Skai Jackson who featured in Lil Nas’s music video for his single, Panini. She writes via Instagram,

“He did try to help her and even put her in rehab but it didn’t work. You can’t help someone that doesn’t wanna be helped. Praying for her.”

Another Instagram user @oddlycreative comments,

“Let’s normalize staying out of family business. No one knows the type of relationship that they have & what he had to endure.”

Now in recent news, Lil Nas’s biggest fan, his father, also spoke out on Instagram to speak on the situation. His father shared a photo of himself alongside Lil Nas and his mother and captioned the post writing,

“Despite what people say @lilnasx is the greatest kid a parent can be BLESSED with. Although his mom is in a struggle with an addiction she’s STILL a QUEEN and he goes through great lengths to make sure we’re taking care of. Those who have family members and friends dealing with addiction understands that there ain’t enough money you can throw at this situation to make it right. I don’t usually address personal issues publicly but felt like this need to be. Please join us in keeping her in your PRAYERS. And to those out there trying to create a false story you won’t prosper. #controlthenarrative

While Lil Nas X has not made a public statement in response to the situation, it seems his father said all that needed to be said. Lil Nas is seemingly unbothered as he continues to promote MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name) via his social media and it seems his father has been unwavered in his support for his son as well. When MONTERO was first released, Lil Nas shared a screenshot via Twitter of a message he received from his father after watching the music video. It read,

“Very creative video. I got through it. Congratulations. Live life on your terms. Very PROUD of you.”

We are always here for a dad supporting their child no matter the circumstances and love to see the beautiful relationship between Lil Nas and his father.

With that being said, if you haven’t yet, go stream MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name) on all streaming platforms! Rumor has it, you may be entitled to a 12 pack of Hanes socks!
