Gaye Magazine is seeking talented and reliable Staff Writers to join our editorial team on a part-time, commission-based contract. This role is ideal for writers passionate about LGBTQ+ storytelling —especially within the Black LGBTQ+ community.
Writers will contribute timely, accurate, and compelling entertainment coverage while meeting weekly article requirements. High-performing writers will have opportunities for additional bonuses, feature assignments, advertorials, and campaign collaborations.
As a Staff Writer, you’ll have the opportunity to specialize in one or more of our core editorial columns:
Must be available at least 2 days per week, 4 hours each day (set your own schedule/flexible hours).
Must have consistent availability for Thursday evening meetings.
Remote position, but Atlanta-based applicants are preferred for occasional on-site opportunities.
Write a minimum of 2 news articles per week.
Attend weekly editorial team meetings every Thursday at 7 PM EST (mandatory).
Participate in one mandatory 1-on-1 meeting with the Editor-in-Chief each week.
Report timely stories involving LGBTQ+ current events, political news, pop culture trends, and more.
Maintain fast turnaround times and accuracy in reporting.
Pitch story ideas and monitor current trends across social media and entertainment platforms.
Collaborate with the editorial team on coverage strategy and deadlines.
Ability to adapt quickly to breaking news and editorial priorities.
Strong writing, grammar, and research skills.
Ability to meet deadlines and work independently.
Reliable access to a smart phone, laptop, and stable internet connection.
Professional communication and excellent time management.
$35–$50 per article, depending on experience.
Bonus commission available for additional articles beyond the required weekly minimum.
