The final trailer for the highly anticipated Devil Wears Prada sequel dropped today with a special surprise: a brand new, original song by none other than Grammy winners Doechii and Lady Gaga.

Aptly titled, “Runway”, the track nods to the film’s iconic fictional magazine led by editor-in-chief Miranda Priestley (Meryl Streep). It is a fun, confident, fashion-forward blend of house and pop.

Originating from the novel, The Devil Wears Prada, and later adapted into the beloved 2006 film, the sequel arrives nearly 20 years later. The Devil Wears Prada 2 follows Runway’s haughty editor-in-chief, Miranda Priestly, as she navigates her career amid the decline of traditional magazine publishing. During this period, she encounters a familiar rival in Emily Charlton (Emily Blunt), now a powerful executive for a luxury group controlling the advertising revenue that Priestly desperately needs. Meanwhile, after losing her journalism job to the digital revolution, Andrea Sachs (Anne Hathaway) is pulled back into the fold to help save Runway from editorial ruin.

The trailer opens with the voice of the self-proclaimed “Swamp Princess”, Doechii, delivering her signature confident flair:

“Serve a little sass with a little side of ass.” / “Do a little twirl, let ‘em know I’m that girl.”

About 30 seconds in, Lady Gaga cuts in:

“Walk, I’m feeling fab, I’m feeling free, I feel exceptionally…”

Snippets of the song are scattered throughout the trailer, from Doechii’s energetic chant, “Click! Click! Click! Click! Everywhere I go!” to Gaga’s commanding line, “I might show up late, I might be on time, just wait, I’m coming”, leaving listeners wanting more.

Gaga and Doechii deliver the final line consecutively, each in their own distinct style: “Born for the runway!” The song’s lyrics clearly reference Gaga’s iconic anthem, “Born This Way”. As global cultural figures with deep roots in queerness, “Runway” is likely to resonate beyond fashion circles, especially within the queer community.

Both creatives’ mutual admiration for their artistry is no secret. It was on full display when Lady Gaga accepted The Innovator Award at the 2025 iHeartRadio Music Awards with Doechii as the presenter. In a heartfelt speech, Doechii reflected on feeling different growing up and credited Gaga for helping her embrace her identity: “Lady Gaga wasn’t just a pop star, she was a lifeline. Gaga taught us it was okay to be our real selves.”

Gaga returned the praise instantly upon taking the stage, “I think we can all agree that Doechii is an innovator already.”

Lady Gaga will also make a cameo in the sequel, having filmed her scenes during her Mayhem Ball Tour in 2025. Her most recent on-screen role was in Joker: Folie à Deux, where she portrayed Harleen “Lee” Quinzel.

Distributed by 20th Century Studios, The Devil Wears Prada 2 hits theaters exclusively on May 1, 2026.
