Billboard chart-topping dance music pioneer Kevin Aviance and up-and-coming rapper SEVNDEEP have joined forces for their new single and music video, “THAT PART.“
Sonically, the club banger combines several elements of queer culture, including ballroom, house music, and nightlife.
In addition to being tailor-made to play in every queer hotspot across the country, the song’s lyrics celebrate and empower queer pleasure, freedom, intimacy, and self-determination.

The song begins with the counting down of their rules for life and the night, before erupting into a powerful chorus where Aviance and SEVNDEEP anthemically chant, “You better touch on, That Part, kiss on That Part, lick on, That Part, f*ck on, That Part.”
The 4-minute-and-21-second visual that debuted with the song absolutely brings its sonics and message together in a neatly wrapped cunty bow.
The visual, which was creatively directed and produced by Sevndeep and Aviance, features black queer folks of all shapes and sizes, along with a strong message. Of course, the visual gives us all the things that make a music video epic. We have colorful aesthetics, bold fashion, fun choreography, and scenes of queer camaraderie.

But most importantly, one scene in the video depicts club-goers taking PrEP, and for that, we have to give them an additional 10s. The real tea is integrating HIV prevention into the visual, which helps frame PrEP use as a normal and responsible aspect of self-care; this, in turn, could help reduce HIV-related stigma in the LGBTQ+ community. We love a bop with a woke message!
It’s deeply affirming to see two generations of iconic Black LGBTQ+ artists come together. The song feels bigger than just music, but a defining cultural crossover moment for two generations of black LGBTQ+ entertainers.

Aviance, whose 1999 song “Cunty” saw new life when it was sampled for Beyoncé’s Renaissance album, is an absolute queer legend who has played a pivotal role in shaping ballroom culture, nightlife, and dance music.
The release of the song and video comes nearly 20 years after Aviance was attacked in New York City after leaving a nightclub, reportedly targeted with anti-gay slurs. Aviance suffered serious injuries, including a broken jaw, that required hospitalization and reconstructive surgery. Several attackers were later arrested and prosecuted.
The attack was widely reported as a hate crime and helped draw major media attention to anti-LGBTQ+ violence in New York at the time.
“THAT PART” is epic house music —don’t just take my word for it, listen for yourself. The song is available now on all streaming platforms, along with the official music video.
