In a deposition that went viral before being sealed, the far-right agitator doubled down on her claim that Graham, 70, is secretly gay. The comments came June 4 as part of her lawsuit against HBO and comedian Bill Maher, and they’ve set social media buzzing all over again about the South Carolina senator’s long-scrutinized private life.
“It’s well known,” Loomer said flatly. “Several of President Trump’s staff have told me in confidence that — Lindsey Graham is gay.”
When HBO attorney Katherine Bolger tried to cut her off, Loomer simply plowed forward: “I know. I’m just explaining.”
The remark was hardly new. Loomer, fiercely loyal to Donald Trump and quick to tear down anyone she views as disloyal, has been pushing the claim for years. In 2023 she tweeted: “When is Lindsey coming out of the closet? We all know you’re gay, Lindsey. And that’s OK. It’s 2024. There’s nothing wrong with Gay people.”

Still, putting the statement under oath — and linking it to “confidences” allegedly shared by Trump’s staff — was a step further, one that ensured her deposition would circulate far beyond legal circles.
Graham’s Long Dance with Gay Rumors
Speculation about Graham’s sexuality has followed him for decades, even as the senator has brushed it off. A lifelong bachelor and Southern Baptist, Graham once told The New York Times he nearly proposed to a woman in Vienna but decided against it because she didn’t want to leave Austria. Other relationships with women, he said, “just didn’t work out.”
“I know it’s really gonna upset a lot of gay men — I’m sure hundreds of ‘ em are gonna be jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge — but I ain’t available,” Graham told the Times in 2010. “I ain’t gay. Sorry.”
Despite repeated denials, the rumors have persisted, surfacing whenever Graham finds himself in the spotlight. They even cropped up last summer, when he was loudly booed while speaking at a Trump rally in Pickens, South Carolina.
Trump, however, has remained firmly in Graham’s corner, endorsing his reelection in March.
Loomer’s Calculated Target
For Loomer, the Graham angle is both personal theater and political strategy. The 32 year-old activist has made a career of attacking Republicans she views as insufficiently “MAGA.” In her world view, Graham represents a softer, less loyal brand of conservatism — and easy foil for her brand of scorched– earth loyalty to Trump.

The deposition, though, raises thornier questions. Loomer is suing HBO for defamation, arguing that Maher ruined her reputation by joking she had an affair with Trump. Yet her own reputation as an internet provocateur — complete with homophobic innuendo and wild allegations — is now Exhibit A in the courtroom.
Bolger, representing HBO, was quick to point out the contradiction: the same free speech protections that shield Maher also shield Loomer when she aims barbs at Graham.
A Narrative That Won’t Die
Graham’s unmarried status and deep religious roots have made him a perennial target for speculation, even among his own party’s base. But Loomer’s decision to revive the rumors under oath — while claiming insider validation from Trump’s circle — mark one of the more aggressive attempts to keep the narrative alive.
For Graham, who has built his career on conservative credibility in hawkish foreign policy, the renewed chatter is a distraction he swatted away before. For Loomer, it’s the latest way to stay relevant — and to prove her devotion to Trump by dragging one of his closest allies in the mud.
Whether the courtroom clash helps her case against HBO remains to be seen. But one thing is certain: when it comes to Lindsey Graham, Laura Loomer isn’t letting the rumors rest.
