Two Black queer power couples are pulling up chairs, passing plates and getting real about marriage, chosen family and more. Presented by Procter & Gamble, “At the Table”, pairs an intimate southern Creole dinner with an even more intimate conversation.
Jecoby Carter, founder and CEO of the Los Angeles-based public relations agency Jecoby & Company, created and executive-produced the 35-min special. Content creator Obio Jones co-executive-produced and hosts the project, which brings together Jones and his husband, “The Upshaws” actor Jermelle Simon-Jones, alongside actor Greg Mathis Jr. and his husband, Elliott Cooper.
“At the Table was created because these conversations deserve space and care,” Carter told Gaye Magazine.
“Through my work, I’ve seen how often Black queer stories are either flattened, delayed, or left out entirely. This project reminded me that if we don’t create the rooms and the tables where these stories can live, we can’t assume anyone else will.”

Jecoby Carter leads marketing and public relations strategy for brands and individuals through Jecoby & Company, helping clients build and grow their audiences by combining traditional public relations with narrative strategy. The agency connects client stories to the audiences, editors and opportunities that advance them, and is known for building visibility for creators, founders and talent at the intersection of media, culture and digital influence. Carter also represents Obio & Jermelle Simon-Jones, and the pair recently served as presenters at the 2026 Truth Awards and appeared at the 2026 GLAAD Honors, according to Forbes.
“At the Table” marks a first for Carter, expanding Jecoby & Company’s work beyond traditional publicity and cultural strategy into original storytelling and talent-led branded entertainment. From the initial pitch through production and premiere, the special reflects the agency’s growing role in creating opportunities for underrepresented voices to be seen with intention.
The conversation unfolds over a Southern Creole-inspired summer meal prepared by chef Kolby Kash. The 30-year-old entrepreneur from Houston competed on season 13 of “MasterChef” under judge Gordon Ramsay and has since built a lifestyle brand rooted in Southern Creole cooking, drawing on his Texas roots and Creole background, and has amassed a following of more than 750,000 on Instagram.

Obio and Jermelle Simon-Jones bring the perspective of a newly married, blended family, having built their relationship in the public eye since Simon came out on National Coming Out Day in 2024 and now co-parenting Simon’s three children. Mathis, on the other hand, previously shared his coming-out journey on the E! docuseries “Mathis Family Matters,” and he and his husband already co-host a separate web series called “At the Table with Greg & Elliott,” where they invite guests to join them for candid conversations about relationships and family life.
“At the Table is about more than a meal,” Obio Jones told Gaye Magazine.

“It’s about sitting down with people who understand the beauty and complexity of being Black, queer, married, visible and still choosing joy. There’s something powerful about seeing us gathered, laughing, reflecting, and being fully human.”
The special arrives as Black queer couples say they still see limited representation of their relationships in mainstream media. Black queer love is still rarely depicted with care in the current media landscape, making the special both refreshing and necessary. Specials like this one fill a gap by centering Black LGBTQ voices year-round rather than confining visibility to June.

For Black queer viewers, seeing married couples speak openly about partnership, parenting and chosen family carries particular weight. Representation researchers and LGBTQ organizations have long noted that Black queer relationships are underrepresented even within broader LGBTQ media coverage, making conversations like the one captured in “At the Table” a rare opportunity for audiences to see themselves reflected authentically, joyfully and outside the frame of struggle alone.
“At the Table” premieres Monday, July 20, 2026, on Obio Jones’ YouTube channel.
