Gayes, the fire is officially lit! BET+ has picked up season 1 of the hit Ballroom reality series, “House on Fire”, today, offering viewers an unfiltered and emotional dive into the heart of modern-day Ballroom culture.
Alongside the premiere, the network released a brand-new trailer teasing the drama, artistry, and raw humanity at the center of the eight-episode series.
More than three decades after the iconic documentary Paris is Burning first illuminated the world of Ballroom, House on Fire picks up the torch — or rather, sets a new one ablaze. The series offers an exclusive look into the inner workings of the House of Miyake-Mugler, one of Ballroom’s most prestigious and competitive houses.
At its core, the show is about chosen family, resilience, and the pursuit of legacy, all while navigating the dazzling — and often brutal — world of balls.
Led by Yusef, world-renowned celebrity hairstylist and Overall Father of the House, House on Fire introduces audiences to a vibrant, all-Black and queer cast, including four trans women, a powerful representation for a community still fighting for visibility and acceptance.
Among the standout cast members is Leyna Bloom, a trailblazing trans model and actress, attempting to step into her role as the potential Overall Mother of the House. Brooklyn, a 19-year-old voguing phenom previously seen on HBO Max's Legendary, opens up about her transition journey while trying to prove herself in the competitive Ballroom scene.
Other captivating personalities include Lolita Leopard, Tati, Exotic, Chanel, Roz, and AJ, all bringing their unique energies, histories, and aspirations to the show.
The series pulls back the curtain on the House’s internal dynamics — the love, the mentorship, the fierce rivalries, and the high-stakes competition. Each episode follows the House’s members as they balance professional careers and personal growth with the pressure of bringing home trophies at major balls across the country.
As Pride Month begins, House on Fire arrives not just as a reality series, but as a cultural moment — one that centers Black, queer, and trans voices unapologetically, and invites viewers into a world where survival is an art form and performance is power.
